There is little doubt that Stranger Things Season 4 is one of the most anticipated shows right now. Although the third season had just aired last summer, fans are already looking forward to finding out what will happen next for the residents of Hawkins. But, is it possible that the wait for the next season will be much longer than expected? It has been revealed that Netflix will delay production, which could push Season 4 to a 2021 premiere date.
There is so much to look forward to in Stranger Things Season 4. After all, the previous season concluded with Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) and the Byers family finally leaving Hawkins with a promise to return during the holidays. In addition to that, the post-credits scene revealed that the Russians have been keeping a prisoner that is only referred to as "the American" and that they have been raising a Demogorgon. Some are also convinced that the "American" held captive by the Russians might be Jim Hopper (David Harbour), who may have survived despite his heartbreaking sacrifice.
But could the wait for the fourth season get longer than expected? A new report from Screenrant reveals that production on Stranger Things Season 4 could be delayed to early 2020. Filming could then end by August of the same year, and considering possible reshoots, the new season might not be ready in time for the end of 2020. This could mean that the series will end up returning on Netflix by 2021.
Although it's disappointing news, there is still a chance that fans will not need to wait for too long for Season 4. There is a possibility that the long production is because there will be two seasons being filmed in the next year. This means that the fourth season can be completed earlier and air before the end of 2020 while the cast and crew are still filming Season 5.
There are several theories about Stranger Things Season 4, including the possibility that Jim Hopper is still alive. Interestingly, David Harbour is expected to return for the upcoming season, which could mean that Hopper will be back. Some believe that the Russians may have taken hopper and is being kept alive in Kamchatka. On the other hand, it's also possible that the character is trapped in the Upside Down and will be needing the help of Eleven.
Stranger Things Season 4 has not been given a premiere date. However, the series is expected to return on Netflix by late 2020.
