Does Princess Eugenie have issues with her status in the royal family? The second child of Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson, the Duke and Duchess of York, allegedly made a subtle diss about Queen Elizabeth and the rest the royals.
According to Daily Express, Princess Eugenie owns some cushions in her house in Windsor with a cheeky inscription. The home decoration apparently has the words, "Born to golf, forced to work," which was interpreted as a jab on the fact that she's not a working royal.
Princess Eugenie is the 10th in line to the throne after her older sister, Princess Beatrice, her father, and the family of her uncle Prince Charles, the heir to the throne. Since Princess Eugenie is not a working royal like her sister, she doesn't directly receive any allowance from Queen Elizabeth unlike her cousins Prince William and Prince Harry.
Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice also attend royal engagements but they don't earn anything from the Privy Purse, which has been in the family's trust since 1399. Instead, Princess Eugenie earns her money by holding a normal job as the associate director of Mayfair art gallery.
The Daily Express report, however, indicated that Princess Eugenie still receives some financial support from her father with the money coming from the Queen's private income. Despite this, Prince Andrew is proud of his daughters because they are building their careers and are part of the working women force.
The York royal is not one to put too much value in royal titles as well. According to reports, Princess Eugenie actually dislikes being called a princess. She confessed in a 2008 interview that having the title is one of the things that "bugs her the most in the world."
As Queen Elizabeth's granddaughter, Princess Eugenie chooses to live as normal as possible. In a 2018 interview right before she married Jack Brooksbank, the royal said that they've been raised with "serious grounding" by their parents, which is what's important and what's real.
Meanwhile, Princess Eugenie's sister is set to marry Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi in 2020. The ninth-in-line to the British throne is reportedly not going to have a lavish wedding unlike her sister and cousins.
According to Mirror, Princess Beatrice might not follow royal protocols and will instead have a quiet, less lavish wedding celebration at her parent's home. Allegedly, the Yorks don't want to attract more controversy following Prince Andrew's association with Jeffrey Epstein, the disgraced financier.
