Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall and future British queen consort, looked quite exceptional when she stepped out for a royal engagement in East London recently. Dressed in a long tartan skirt as a nod to Scotland, Prince Charles' wife paired the outfit with a pair of high dark gray boots and matching gray jacket.

The duchess' appearance was similar to her daughter-in-law, Meghan Markle, when she graced the Field of Remembrance with Prince Harry. Meghan also wore high dark boots underneath her chic navy coat to match the somber occasion.

Royal observers said that, as of late, Camilla has been stealing a few style secrets from Meghan and the rest of the younger royals like Princess Beatrice, and even Kate Middleton's sister, Pippa. Like these women, Camilla also owns a DeMellier London bag, which she was seen carrying at the event.

Meanwhile, Camilla was supposed to join Meghan Markle and Prince Harry at last Thursday's event. The Duchess of Cornwall, however, decided to sit out this engagement upon the advice of her doctor because she was suffering from a chest infection.

Clarence House issued a statement indicating that Prince Charles' wife would miss the Field of Remembrance ceremonies because her infection has gotten "progressively worse." A spokesperson for Prince Charles and Camilla said that the duchess was "deeply disappointed" for not being able to join the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

Camilla also didn't go to an event at the London Library a day before and her doctors didn't say when she can resume her royal duties. She was able to join Prince Charles at an event early this week but she was already suffering from a coughing fit.

Meanwhile, reports stated that Prince Harry and Meghan are looking up to Camilla for understanding amid their problems with the media. According to a Vanity Fair report, the Duchess of Cornwall has been a "pillar of support" for the Sussex couple.

She is, apparently, fond of Meghan Markle and can be a good ally amid the Sussex royal's struggles with the heavy criticism and scrutiny from the British tabloid press. Camilla went through the same experience several years ago, when her affair with Prince Charles was the headline.

Royal biographer Sally Bedell Smith believes that Meghan could learn a lot from Camilla as they share a similar experience of being "on the receiving end of some very negative press." The Duchess of Cornwall can teach the Duchess of Sussex better ways of cultivating a relationship with the media since Camilla is now in good terms with the groups that used to malign her person in the papers.
