Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge, holds superiority and seniority over Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex. This was evidently stressed during the public observance of Remembrance Day last Nov. 10.

Meghan was not with the Kate when they stood at the balcony to honor the war heroes for Remembrance Day. Instead, the Duchess of Sussex was next to Sophie, the Duchess of Wessex, who is also the wife of Prince Edward, Queen Elizabeth's youngest son. The other person with them in the same balcony corner was Tim Lawrence, the husband of Princess Anne, Queen Elizabeth's second child and only daughter.

In a separate section of the balcony, Kate stood next to Queen Elizabeth and Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall and wife of the heir apparent Prince Charles, the Prince of Wales. As fans discussed on Quora, Meghan and Kate were not assigned to stand together because the former isn't as high in the ranking as Kate.

While Meghan is a junior royal and won't likely become the queen since her husband, Prince Harry, is sixth in line to the throne, Kate is on a higher status altogether. Married to Prince William, the second in line to the throne, Kate is destined to be queen and she is also the mother of Prince George, the third in line to the throne.

Everyone at the balcony where Kate stood during Remembrance Day are senior royals: Queen Elizabeth as the current Queen Regnant, and the two Queen Consorts, Camilla and Kate. Thus, it's only fitting for Meghan to be at a different balcony but her position, nonetheless, is still an honor despite how her critics make it out to be.

A report on the Daily Express cited that Meghan and even Prince Harry need to be separated from the royal familybecause of the bad press surrounding the Sussex couple. According to royal expert Dickie Arbiter, they have to deal with their situation while the rest of the family carry on with business as usual.

Arbiter said this statement in light of the Prince Harry and Meghan choosing not to spend the holidays with the rest of the royals in the U.K. Instead, they will be traveling to the United States with their son, Archie Harrison, to spend Christmas with Doria Ragland, Meghan Markle's mother.

Although, Buckingham Palace issued the press release to confirm that Queen Elizabeth had their blessing when they decided to fly abroad for Christmas. It will be Archie's first time to celebrate the holidays.
