Frozen 2 has finally hit theaters, and Disney fans can't get enough of the return of Queen Elsa and Princess Anna of Arendelle. But is it possible that the House of Mouse is already planning a follow-up to the animated sequel? The directors of the second Frozen film may have revealed that a third movie is possible. Interestingly, Frozen 3 might be happening in the next year.

The revelation comes from Frozen 2 directors Jennifer Lee and Chris Buck as well as producer Peter Del Vecho, who all spoke to Cinemablend after the film's premiere. The creative team was asked if fans can expect the third movie now that the second film has been released. Interestingly, Del Vecho pointed out that the directors gave the two sisters an awesome conclusion that suggests that they would not be returning for a sequel.

"I think when we look at these two movies together, what I love about this is you've done an amazing job at weaving them," Del Vecho said to the directors. "[They're] one full story. So, now, it feels like a complete journey."

Elsa and Anna have been through a lot in the past few years. Although Elsa became an excellent ruler of Arendelle at the end of the first Frozen movie, she decided to abdicate the throne in Frozen 2 and became the protector of the Enchanted Forest. This left Anna to rule over the kingdom with Kristoff at her side.

So does this mean that Frozen 3 is not happening anymore? Co-director Jennifer Lee offered some hope for fans who are looking forward to seeing more of Elsa and Anna and their friends. "It feels complete to me, but I don't know, Chris says ask him in a year," she said with a laugh. This could mean that Lee and co-director Chris Buck are not closing their doors on yet another sequel, especially since Frozen 2 is a huge success.

Interestingly, Frozen 2 may have hinted at more adventures in the future. In the post-credits scene, Olaf pays a visit to Elsa's ice palace and meets up with Marshmallow and his friends so he could tell them about his adventures. Some believe that this hints at the premise of Frozen 3, which could be about the snowman trying to help both Anna and Elsa around their respective kingdoms.

Frozen 2 is currently screening in theaters worldwide.
