The Motorola Razr 2019 is not yet up for pre-order, but talks of its possible successor are already making rounds online. The recently spotted Motorola Mobility patent for a folding smartphone triggered speculations that Motorola Razr 2 might be in the works. Interestingly, the next folding smartphone from Motorola is speculated to have eight side sensors and an in-screen scanner, to name a few.
The patent of the alleged Motorola Razr 2 was first spotted by the Dutch site LetsGoDigital, which was the same site that discovered the PlayStation 5 dev kit patent. The patent was filed at the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) in May 2018 and was approved just recently. The patent describes the handset as loaded with special sensors and resembles a lot like the Motorola Razr 2019 but with a couple of different major features.
Trusted Reviews report that there is a discernible icon on the screen of the alleged Motorola Razr 2, which suggests that it might have a fingerprint scanner built into its display. It would be a more elegant solution as compared to the scanner located below the screen of Motorola Razr 2019. Additionally, the patent talks about the eight sensors located at the edges of the screen.
Four sensors are on each side of the alleged Motorola Razr 2. These seemingly customizable buttons can be accessed whether the device's screen is unfolded or folded. These sensors also respond to gestures when pressed. Moreover, these can be configured to do various things based on whether the smartphone's screen is folded shut or open.
Most likely, these sensors located on each side of the alleged Motorola Razr 2 would provide a lot of shortcut options and quick settings toggles. It is interesting to note that the patent does not show the trademark chin of Motorola Razr 2019, which makes sense considering that the rumored fingerprint sensor is located on the spot where the chin should be. This suggests that the next smartphone from Motorola might not have the chin if it releases.

While the details shown in the pattern are interesting and exciting, it is worth noting that these are from a patent. Big tech companies like Motorola usually file patents to secure and protect their ideas. However, this does not mean that these details will ever see the light of day as most of them stay as patents.
We suggest taking these details about the alleged Motorola Razr 2 with a pinch of salt.
