According to a report from HollywoodLife, series creator Pete Nowalk made it clear that not everyone will have a happy ending in How to Get Away with Murder season 6. For instance, Annalise's ending won't be a happy one since she's dead in the flash-forward scene.
Nowalk discussed how the characters' journey would end in the series finale. He said that he wanted for each of them to be faced with a 'Sophie's choice' of their own life. He thinks that the characters are still moral people in the end, and not planning to become murderers of terrible people.
The series creator teased that each character will decide what kind of person they want, and this might surprise viewers. Nowalk also talked about How to Get Away with Murder season 6 being the final installment of the series, noting that it was his ultimate decision to end it.
While it's the end for the series, Nowalk teased there are fulfilling and satisfying episodes coming up in How to Get Away with Murder season 6. As for the possibility of a reboot, Nowalk said he's not thinking about that right now. However, he also noted that "never say never" about a reboot in 20 years.

He said they'll try to answer as many questions as they can, particularly the mysterious storylines.
