WhatsApp, the world's largest instant messaging app, will soon introduce a feature that will enable users to send self-destructing messages. The feature was discovered by WABetaInfo when they data-mined the Android app's beta version 2.19.275. The much-awaited feature is once again spotted in the latest Android beta build 2.19.348, which now has a different name.
The upcoming WhatsApp feature is now called Delete Messages, which allows users to set chat messages to be removed after a certain period as set by the user. This particular feature sounds familiar, considering that Snapchat has a similar feature. Many tech enthusiasts believe that this might be the way of the Facebook-owned instant messaging app in reaching out to the younger generation market segment and keeping them on the platform.
When the WhatsApp delete Messages feature is enabled, it can be accessed in the Contact Info or the Group Settings of the app. Unfortunately, the feature will only be available for group chat, which means that only administrators are allowed to enable it. Through the Delete Messages feature, users can choose the duration of the availability of the messages in the instant messaging app before they get deleted or removed.
Currently, the Delete Messages WhatsApp feature offers a message availability duration of one hour, one day, one week, one month, and one year. Several sites claim that the Delete Messages feature goes well with the dark theme feature of WhatsApp. Sadly, this feature is not yet functional so, users will have to wait for its official release to enjoy it.

Users who are able to avail of the latest Android beta build 2.19.348 will not be able to access the Delete Messages feature of WhatsApp. Most likely, the instant messaging app will soon release the beta version of the feature so users could try and test its functionality. Beta testing can also help in identifying glitches and bugs that might affect the smooth integration and flow of the upcoming feature. WABetaInfo also discovered several other upcoming WhatsApp features. The team spotted the official WhatsApp app for iPad users. The most popular instant messaging app launch the Android 2.19.349 web release earlier. Similarly, WhatsApp version 2.19.120 was also released and now available on the Apple App Store. The latest WhatsApp update introduces new privacy settings that enable users to controls who can add them to groups.
