Andre Iguodala is at the moment a hot item when talking about the trade rumors circulating in the NBA. From the Golden State Warriors, the former Finals MVP is now part of the Memphis Grizzlies, but he will not stay for long. Iguodala might just suit up for the Raptors.
Toronto is where Iggy broke his heart last season. Then bannered by Kawhi Leonard, the Raptors turned back the Warriors and prevented a fourth NBA ring for Iguodala. By midseason, however, there is a chance that the reigning NBA champion will count the reliable Iguodala as a new member.
That was the possibility floated by the report from Fadeaway World, saying Toronto is considering a move on the NBA veteran to increase their chance of defending the crown that was snatched from GSW in the last season.
The report was based on the story recently published by Zach Buckley on Bleacher Report.
"Buying big on Andre Iguodala ... could make this long, versatile, intelligent group even longer, more versatile and more intelligent," the report was quoted as saying.
To make the deal happen, Buckley suggested that Toronto take on the objective in an aggressive manner and make an offer that Memphis would find hard to resist. That would call for sending Norman Powell and Patrick McCaw to the Grizzlies and for good measure top the offer with a 2020 first-round pick.
It is believed that the latter part of the package should catch the attention of Memphis.
According to Inquisitr, a first-round pick is a conversation starter for Memphis as it is assumed that this is the exact deal that the team has been seeking to agree on letting Iguodala jump to another location.
Likewise, the Grizzlies will gain big in absorbing the duo of Powell and McCaw. The same report described Powell as an asset to Toronto and prized for his perimeter sniping. McCaw, on the other hand, is able to do some heavy-lifting specifically in the areas of setting up plays and providing defense.
As for the Raptors' potential gains in landing Iguodala, the team will certainly enhance its existing dimensions with the former Warriors switching to the Toronto side.
"His vision and selflessness would add yet another capable shot-creator to an offense," the report from Buckley said.
In other words, Iguodala will create even more possibilities for Toronto on both ends of the court. It is well-established that Iguodala can create a situation that leads to points conversion, or he himself can finish the play he had started.
Iguodala can also make things difficult for players he's assigned to defend, and on this, he has the respect of LeBron James.
