Avril Lavigne and boyfriend Phillip Sarofim called it quits after less than two years of dating. The two have yet to give an explanation for their breakup.
Lavigne and Sarofim were first spotted together in February 2018. They reportedly met through common friends. Sarofim is the son of Egyptian-American billionaire investor Fayez Sarofim.
The "Head Above Water" singer started dating the billionaire heir after she broke up with music producer J.R. Rotem in late 2017. In May, they were spotted attending together the Race to Erase MS Gala and silent auction in Beverly Hills. It was Lavigne's first red carpet appearance in two years.
The following month, Avril Lavigne and Phillip Sarofim were also photographed together in Los Angeles. They stepped out to do shopping in the West Hollywood neighborhood.
In an interview with People Magazine earlier this year, the "Sk8er Boi" singer admitted that though she hadn't given up on the institution of marriage, she doesn't care so much about it now. Lavigne said all she wants is to be happy and have a healthy relationship.
At the time of the interview, the 35-year-old singer also refused to confirm her relationship with Sarofim. She said she wants her personal life to remain private.
Lavigne has gone through two divorces. She was previously married to Sum 41 rocker Deryck Whibley for three years before they split in 2009. The "Complicated" singer then dated Brody Jenner from 2010 to 2012.
In 2013, she married Nickelback frontman, Chad Kroeger. Their relationship lasted for two years.
Despite her divorces, she has kept a good relationship with both of her ex-husbands. In an interview with Billboard last year, Lavigne said she has no regrets in any of his past relationships.
She also opened up about her battle with Lyme disease. Lavigne said she started the feel the symptoms during her tour in 2014.
When she confirmed that she has the tick-borne illness, she called David Foster's then-wife Yolanda Hadid, who gave her the number of a Lyme specialist. Lavigne said she was bed-ridden for two years because of the disease.
Lavigne is finally back. The Canadian singer-songwriter released her sixth studio album Head Above Water earlier this year. The peaked at album peaked at No. 13 on the U.S. Billboard 200.
Now that she is single again, Avril has her music to focus on. She is currently on her Head Above Water tour, which kicked off in September. It is her first concert tour after The Avril Lavigne Tour in 2013. She is scheduled to have 15 tour stops across North America, 16 in Europe, and four in Asia. The tour is set to wrap on May 14, 2020.
