The Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area has been experiencing steady growth over the past years and stability in the region's economy allowed for increased numbers of talents moving to the area.
According to China Daily, the Greater Bay Area posted growth in talent influx with a 1.3 percent increase during the third quarter of 2019. In terms of talent quality, the figures also recorded workforce improvements of 55.93 percent compared to 54.48 in the previous year.
A recent report by online recruitment platform Zhaopin further revealed that Guangdong, Guangzou, and Shenzhen were the top areas where job seekers tried to secure jobs. The said provinces attracted almost 71 percent of the total talent during Q3.
For salary figures, Hong Kong had the highest average monthly pay in the Greater Bay Area. Macao followed next, Shenzhen sat at the third spot, while Guangzhou settled in at fourth. Industry experts noted that high salaries in the area were among the top reasons why professionals have been coming to the Bay.
As part of its report, Zhaopin pointed out some issues that respective leaders in China's Greater Bay Area could look into to improve the working environment for talents who opt for work in the area.
Zhaopin recommended improvements in the housing sector since expensive housing has kept some professionals from moving to the Bay even if they were qualified or there were good job posts available.
Director of the National Economic Research Institute, Fan Gang, added that the Greater Bay Area leadership may also seek to improve the business environment for entrepreneurs in search of opportunities.
Human resources and employee units in Guangzhou and other areas in the Bay have already been hard at work in providing better environments for talents to enjoy, including enhancements in transportation, children's education, and healthcare.
Last month, executive vice chairman of the Asia Pacific Exchange and Cooperation Foundation (APECF), Xiao Wunan, explained that even through political unrest in Hong Kong, there are still a lot of opportunities for investments in the area.
According to CNBC, Xiao echoed the earlier statements of the Chinese government that the Chinese economy is currently undergoing reform on the supply side. Xiao noted that there will be pain in the process but it will also help push China to become a better player in various aspects.
China has been working on transitioning to more sustainable ways to do business, especially in the Greater Bay Area, where talents from around the country and the world consider environmental aspects of a company they'd like to work for.
