EXO's Kai panicked during an Instagram Live broadcast when he announced that he spotted sasaengs gathering outside EXO's dormitory.
According to a report by All Kpop, EXO Kai threatened to call the police on sasaengs who were gathering around the EXO dormitory during a live broadcast where the idol grew increasingly more uncomfortable as he saw the sasaengs camped outside their location. Kai was forced to announce that he was calling the police if the fans outside the dorm refused to leave.
Sasaengs, or fans who stalk idols to a dangerous degree, have plagued members of EXO for a long time and have threatened their safety multiple times.
It can be recalled that early this year, a video of Chanyeol running from sasaengs at the airport became viral as he tried to evade his rabid fans. According to a report, the EXO member was headed for Japan to take some vacation time but fans caught wind of his plans and camped out at the airport to wait for him. The sasaengs' behavior drew the ire of fellow fans who criticized them for endangering Chanyeol.
It was also this year that Chanyeol's workspace was broken into by two sasaeng fans. According to a report by SBS Pop Asia, the women who broke into the studio were sasaengs from China. They were revealed to have been harassing the EXO member for a long time already.
It was an SM Entertainment staff that witnessed the attempted break-in and reported the incident to the police, backed by evidence from the CCTV.
"As violations of privacy that cross the line cause severe pain and damage to our artists, we ask people to refrain from doing so," SM Entertainment said after Chanyeol filed a report.
Members of EXO have previously confided that the problem with sasaengs has been growing worse over the years because members now have to take special measures so that they will not be tailed when they leave the dorm. They have also confessed that they felt fear for their families because of the fans' extreme behavior.
Kai revealed in a separate broadcast that he spotted some sasaengs waiting in the parking lot. On the other hand, Baekhyun constantly fell prey to sasaengs calling him while doing Instagram Lives. Sasaengs' threatening behavior ranged from stalking, break-ins, and installing hidden cameras to invade EXO's personal space.
