It has been an excruciating long wait but the first trailer for Wonder Woman 1984 has finally been released and it's everything that fans are expecting. Not surprisingly, the teaser immediately confirmed that Steve Trevor is back although he was previously killed in the first movie. So how exactly was Chris Pine's character brought back despite being dead for several decades? The trailer may have revealed exactly how it happens, and it's all thanks to a new character who wields a strange power.

In the Wonder Woman 1984, it was immediately confirmed that Diana Prince still holds a flame for Steve Trevor. This is proven by photos of Steve and the watch he left with Diana. In addition to that, Diana admits to Barbara Minerva that she has fallen in love before. Needless to say, it's obvious that Diana still pines for Steve after all these years.

Things get interesting when Max Lord is introduced, and he has a solution for everyone's problems: "Think about having everything that you've always wanted." That's not very helpful at first, but suddenly, Steve Trevor is back in Diana Prince's arms. Max is then shown with a strange rock revealing his own secret agenda. "Now, I take what I want in return," he says.

The trailer may have been misleading, but it also suggested a connection between Max Lord's odd advice and Steve Trevor's return. It is believed that Max is talking directly to Diana Prince and is trying to make a deal with the Amazonian princess. When she accepts, he uses some strange magic to bring back Steve, but it comes at a terrible price. Unfortunately, this would mean that Diana will have to fight to keep Steve alive.

Steve Trevor's return isn't the only thing that was teased by the Wonder Woman 1984 trailer. It is also suggested that Max Lord is offering the same thing to Barbara Minerva, and she ends up becoming Cheetah by taking the deal. However, it could also mean that Barbara's friendship with Diana Prince will be in jeopardy once she turns into a supervillain.

Wonder Woman 1984 brings back Gal Gadot and Chris Pine. It will also introduce The Mandalorian star Pedro Pascal as Max Lord as well as Saturday Night Live alum Kristen Wiig as Barbara Minerva. The film is scheduled for release on June 5, 2020.
