It looks like Tom Ellis has been working on something other than Lucifer Season 5. The latest episode of The Flash Season 6 revealed yet another surprising crossover as the heroes went to Earth-666 and met up with Lucifer Morningstar. Interestingly, Ellis had previously declared that he wouldn't be a part of Crisis on Infinite Earths. Luckily, he has offered an awesome explanation why he had lied about joining The CW's gigantic Arrowverse crossover event.

In Crisis on Infinite Earths: Part Three, the heroes needed to find Oliver Queen's soul. In order to do so, John Constantine travelled with Mia Smoak, John Diggle to find Lucifer Morningstar in Earth-666. This is how they find out that Oliver's soul was in Purgatory. Unfortunately, they were unable to bring with them. At the last moment, Jim Corrigan tells Oliver he is destined to become the Spectre and Oliver had no other choice but to accept and remain with Jim.

It may have been a brief scene for Tom Ellis but most people were still shocked to see Lucifer in Crisis on Infinite Earths. However, his cameo was accidentally leaked ahead of the episode's premiere. Nevertheless, Ellis denied being a part of the Arrowverse crossover event. Now, he has offered an explanation on why he decided to lie to his fans about his role in The Flash Season 6.

In an interview with ET Online, Tom Ellis revealed that he spoke to Matt Ryan about how it would be nice if his cameo in Crisis on Infinite Earths wouldn't be leaked. Unfortunately, the secret was still revealed and it made him unhappy although he understood it was impossible to keep the cameo hidden from social media.

"I think there were a few people hanging around the set who noticed that I was there and put stuff out that I was going to be in it, so I kind of was like, 'I would still really like to surprise some people.' So that is why," Ellis said.

But does this mean that the Arrowverse characters could show up in Lucifer Season 5? Unfortunately, Tom Ellis revealed that the timeline of the Crisis on Infinite Earths episode takes place five years before Lucifer Morningstar met Chloe Decker. Nevertheless, it's great to see that Lucifer was rather helpful before he met the love of his life.

Lucifer Season 5 has not yet been given an official release date. Nevertheless, the final season is expected to air on Netflix in 2020.
