Kim Soo Hyun's departure from his long-time agency, KeyEast Entertainment is not yet final. This was based on a statement released by the company following reports that the actor was planning to establish his agency.

According to a report by Soompi, a source from KeyEast Entertainment released a response to reports that one of the company's top stars was leaving the agency when his contract expires by the end of December.

"We are in discussion with Kim Soo Hyun about renewing. We have not been informed about [Kim Soo Hyun] setting up a one-man agency," the source stated.

However, according to a report by All Kpop, Kim Soo Hyun was already planning to leave his agency of 12 years to take charge of his career. The actor, who rose to fame because of his roles in Dream High, The Producers, The Moon that Embraces the Sun, and My Love from the Star, was reportedly eyeing a partnership with his cousin, Lee Sa Rang.

It can be recalled that Kim Soo Hyun worked with film director Lee Sa Rang for the film, Real in 2017. Based on the report, Kim Soo Hyun will be establishing a one man-agency focused on himself.

It was just a few months ago that Kim Soo Hyun was discharged from mandatory service in July. During his time in service, the actor did his country proud by working hard and earning accolades as a soldier. He received the title of "Special Class Soldier" because of his positive performance, reported E! Online.

While he did his best as a soldier, he admitted that after his discharge, he felt somewhat liberated as he returned to his life as an artist.

After his enlistment, he signed on for the lead role in tvN's I'm Psycho But It's Okay opposite actress Seo Ye Ji. However, before he accepted the project, he made a cameo appearance in Hotel del Luna, as a favor for his good friend, IU. I'm Psycho But That's Okay is his first full project after his enlistment.

In an interview after his discharge, the actor said that he reflected a lot during his time in the military, and realized that the one thing he wanted to continue doing was an act.

"Nothing has been decided yet in terms of projects, but I think I'll be working hard and greeting you through new projects starting around next year or so," he said.

As early as July, rumors have been floating that Kim Soo Hyun had plans to leave KeyEast and establish his talent agency.
