Melania Trump has surpassed her own record for the number of Christmas trees at the White House this holiday season. This year, the First Lady of the United States brought in and decorated 58 Christmas trees as compared to her 41 trees last year.
Melania showed off on her social media accounts this year's elaborate Christmas decorations at the White House in her social media accounts. She captioned the video of her admiring the White House's interior as "The Spirit of America."
This year's Christmas theme at the presidential residence is "The Spirit of America" which also symbolizes patriotism. It is also believed to be a nod to Melania's campaign "Be Best."
White House officials, led by the First Lady, also picked a towering 18-foot Douglas fir for the traditional official White House Christmas tree. The tree was harvested from Mahantongo Valley Farms in Pitman, Pennsylvania. It arrived at the White House right after Thanksgiving.
FLOTUS did not forget to bring back the iconic gingerbread White House in this year's holiday decor. The First Lady also included models from other landmarks such as Mount Rushmore.
Color consultant and stylist Jules Standish shared to Express her thoughts of the various meanings behind Melania's Christmas decors. Standish said the First Lady's choice of all white represents balance and optimism. It signifies that Melania is open to new challenges and ideas but she also likes to make her own decisions and she couldn't be swayed by others easily.
This is the third year that the Trumps will celebrate Christmas at the White House. Last year's Christmas theme at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue in Washington, D.C was "American Treasures." At the time, FLOTUS adorned the White House with 14,000 red ornaments and 29 trees that symbolize bravery and valor. The year before that, Melanie explored the "Time-Honored Traditions" theme.
The long-standing tradition of decorating Christmas trees at the White House first started during the time of President Dwight D. Eisenhower. At the time, the Eisenhower administration installed 26 trees throughout the presidential residence.
Meanwhile, President Donald Trump along with Melania led the lighting up of the Christmas decor at the White House Grand Foyer last week. All eyes are glued on the First Lady as she appeared in a $4,000 cape-effect gown from Lebanese designer Reem Acra.
