One of the highly advertised significant features of a smartphone is its camera prowess because many consumers would like to have a smartphone that can double as an advanced camera for their social media activities. Recent reports claim that Samsung's upcoming flagship smartphone series, the Samsung Galaxy S11, will feature 108 MP camera sensor. While this is already a massive leap in terms of smartphone cameras, it appears that Samsung is not yet done as new leak claims that it might launch a 144MP camera sensor in the future.
Ice Universe, a reliable tipster on everything smartphone and tech, is back once again with another explosive revelation about the Seoul-based tech and electronics giant. Based on the latest leak, it appears that Samsung is planning to develop a 144MP camera sensor with the use of the 14nm process. At present, the current pixel count ranges between 10 MP to almost 100 MP, but to be able to achieve a pixel density higher than 100 MP, 14nm process is needed.
If the recent leak pans out, the use of 14nm FinFET process will result in reduced power consumption, making the device more energy efficient. OEMs can improve the pixel count of devices without giving negative effects on battery life and without the need to increase the battery capacity of the device. A higher pixel count requires more time for data processing, which could shorten the battery life of a device.
Based on the leaked images shared by the tipster, it seems that future Samsung smartphones that will use 14nm FinFET process will cut power consumption somewhere around 42 percent. So far, this is the only information we know about the 144MP camera sensor that Samsung is reportedly planning to develop. But, in the recent IEEE International Electron Devices Meeting (IEDM) that happened a few days ago, Samsung mentioned about optimizing the 14nm FinFET process for imaging applications, says Wccftech.

Meanwhile, in other Samsung news, the same tipster recently shared a promotional image of the Samsung Galaxy S11 Plus. The image only shows the left side of the camera configuration of the upcoming flagship smartphone. While the image only shows three rear cameras, the tipster said there are two other cameras on the right side.
While the leaked image does not seem to align to earlier Samsung Galaxy S11 series' render, which reveals a total of seven cameras, both are not official anyway. With rumors claiming that Samsung is planning to release the Samsung Galaxy S11 flagship series in February 2020, more details about it will surely surface online. But, take this information, as always, with a pinch of salt.
