WINNER's Song MINO debuted as a visual artist when his work joined the Special Exhibition for Emerging Artists 2019. For his first foray into the world of art, he had no less than G-Dragon's support.
According to a report by Soompi, three of MINO's art pieces were featured alongside the works of 51 other rising stars at Seongnam Art Center's 808 Gallery exhibit from December 17 to 25.
The Special Exhibition for Emerging Artists is an annual event that showcases emerging talents in the art field to create an avenue to discover new talents. The event also creates a venue for artists to connect with visitors, making it the perfect opportunity for the WINNER rapper to introduce his work to the public.
Apart from writing lyrics for WINNER's songs, MINO recently shared glimpses into his talent for expressing his emotions through visual pieces. He has often showed off his creations on social media but this will be the first time that he formally joins an exhibit to stand alongside other budding artists in Korea.
MINO recently shared a sneak peek into the art pieces featured at the Special Exhibition for Emerging Artists 2019 event.
Two of the paintings showed MINO using striking colors like yellow, red, and aquamarine to create a funky vibe for the artwork. One painting showed a man hiding his face behind his hands as he appeared shocked by something.
The second painting showed a red-faced man who seemed to be in the middle of some sort of mischief. MINO also shared videos of himself working on the paintings to encourage fans to visit the exhibit.
At the opening of the exhibit, the rapper received a treat when fellow YG artist G-Dragon arrived at the event to show his support for his junior.
It can be recalled that G-Dragon is also a popular visual artist and his latest project involved producing designs for Nike's special ParaNoise edition. He is also known as a fashion trendsetter and the founder of the peaceminusone brand.
G-Dragon, along with fellow BIGBANG member T.O.P., were also featured in the recent ARTnews list of 50 Art Collectors To Watch because of their taste for the art and their extensive art collections.
In a report, GD's art collection was estimated at 5.1 billion won (4.5 million USD), including Richard Prince's Millionaire Nurse piece that he bought for over 3 million USD.
