Prince William and Kate Middleton may not be known for their PDAs, but they do share some sweet moments in public from time to time. However, a new report claims that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are feuding after the latter rejected her husband’s sweet gesture in recent appearance.

On A Berry Royal Christmas TV special, Prince William and Kate Middleton were seen sitting by the fireplace while they chat with a lot of people. The Duke of Cambridge then touched his wife’s shoulder while talking with the guests, but the Duchess of Cambridge quickly shrugged his hand off.

While Kate Middleton looked very happy in the video, eagle-eyed fans couldn’t help but notice how she immediately flinched when Prince William touched her. (Watch the video here).

However, royal fans were not too happy when Daily Mail made a big deal out of the incident. Many believe that it wasn’t that serious, and the publication was just making it look like the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were feuding.

“And just like clockwork, the Daily Mail decides that Kate shrugged off William’s hand because PDA was inappropriate in that setting. Wouldn’t have made that lame excuse if it were H&M,” one wrote on Twitter. “This is a whole lot of nothing. She moved away and then moved back. What about the rest of the hours? Which was wonderful,” another one posted.

One royal fan pointed out that, “Not fake news, just not a big deal! Earlier in the episode, he touches her the same way and she does nothing. This is an engagement and she may not feel comfortable with it in this environment. (I love both Sussexes and Cambridges).”

Fans are having a hard time believing the new report as the host of the Christmas special herself, Mary Berry, praised Prince William and Kate Middleton’s marriage. The chef witnessed their relationship firsthand, so many believe that her opinion is more accurate.

Meanwhile, a royal etiquette expert Myka Meier explained the curiosity about the royals doing PDAs. “There is no actual etiquette or royal protocol that says the couple must refrain from PDA,” she said. “The likely reasoning is more that while traveling on a tour such as the India trip, technically the couple is working representatives of British monarchy. The couple is likely to show very little PDA, if any, to remain professional during their designated roles abroad.”
