Queen Elizabeth and Princess Diana may not have the closest relationship in the royal family, but they were amicable towards each other. So when an incident happened with the two of them involved, Her Majesty and the Princess of Wales shared a good laugh about it.
In the Amazon Prime documentary Royalty Up Close: The Photography Of Kent Gavin, the photographer shared one particular moment when Queen Elizabeth and Princess Diana wore the same shade of blue at an event. The Monarch and Prince Charles' ex-wife couldn’t help but find the incident amusing.
“I can recall on one occasion that the Queen was walking up to Diana and walked past but they’d both dressed in exactly the same color – matching outfits!” Kent Gavin recalled. “And you can see the amusement on the Queen’s face and Diana is looking at the Queen, smirking. Again, it’s just the expression that she knows and you know you’ve got a great picture, and it’s there in the eyes.”
While the moment was quite funny for Queen Elizabeth and Princess Diana for turning up to an event wearing similar outfits, a lot of people are actually trying to recreate the Princess of Wales’ looks after her tragic passing in 1997.
In fact, Princess Diana’s daughter-in-law Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle have tried to make their own version of the late People’s Princess's well-known ensembles. Many even noted that the Duchess of Cambridge’s style reminds them so much of Prince William’s mother.
