With 14 years together, Super Junior members are more than familiar with each other, their habits, strengths, and weaknesses. They even consider each other family so it came as no surprise that Kim Heechul's normally quiet mom attacked maknae Kyuhyun naturally when he appeared as a guest on My Ugly Duckling.
According to a report by Soompi, Super Junior's youngest member Kyuhyun dropped by the show to promote his musical entitled The Man Who Laughs. The show revolves around a man whose face was scarred but still fought for equality.
During the episode, Kyuhyun received plenty of compliments from the mothers on the panel for his good looks. Heechul's mom also said that she considered Kyuhyun as the visual of the group.
However, when it came time for Kyuhyun to pick which member he thought was the visual of Super Junior, he quickly picked Lee Donghae with no hesitation. This prompted Heechul's mom to accuse of Kyuhyun of betraying her.
Amid the laughter, Kyuhyun was once again asked another question about his members. Seo Jang Hoon asked him whom he thought was the craziest member of the group. Kyuhyun admitted that there were really no normal members of Super Junior in real life so it was a pretty tough call.
In the end, he picked leader Leeteuk, main vocalist Yesung and Kdrama leading man Choi Siwon as the craziest members. Seo Jang Hoon, who worked with Kim Heechul as one of the hosts of Knowing Bros., was surprised by Kyuhyun's choice because he considered Heechul to be one of the craziest members of their show.
"Heechul is an ordinary person who pretends like he's crazy," the Super Junior maknae replied.
2019 was a big year for Super Junior because they finally welcomed back the last member to complete military enlistment. "Evil maknae" Kyuhyun completed his military service last May.
This paved the way for the release of Super Junior's ninth full album, Time Slip with the title track Super Clap. Nine members participated in the album including Leeteuk, Heechul, Yesung, Shindong, Eunhyuk, Donghae, Siwon, Ryeowook, and Kyuhyun.
However, Heechul was only able to participate in recording the album and opted to sit out performances on music shows and the Super Show 8 concert series due to his leg injury.
Without expecting anything, Super Junior won the Popularity Award at the Asian Artist Award in Vietnam, won for Super Clap on Mnet's Music Bank against younger artists, and picked up awards from The Fact, KKBox, and Talehit Music Awards.
Super Junior also topped Gaon Chart's physical album sales for the month of October with the release of Time Slip, selling 365,751 copies of the album. Their sales were double the number of other artists on the chart.
