The latest leaks on Pixel 4a appear to indicate Google is not planning to veer too far away from its familiar template. The upcoming device is sure to get attention, but the flagship specifications will be part of the package. And that might be the chief reason the handset will remain cheaper than the competition.

Tech tipster OnLeaks and 91Mobiles provided a peek to the Pixel 3a follow up, and the general impression from the renders so far is that of a handset with clear Google imprints. The emphasis is more on functions, and there will be bits of compromise on the feature sides, presumably to cut costs and make the phone more accessible.

As suggested by the leaks, the Pixel 4a will have a punch-hole front shooter, which is a welcome aesthetic jump. Feature-wise, however, this could mean that the device will be devoid of face unlock, according to Engadget.

The front panel is tipped to stretch up to 5.8-inch, coming from the 5.6-inch Pixel 3a, and certainly, there will be no higher refresh rate. Would-be buyers, though, don't expect such a jump for a device that is known to retail at a more than the reasonable price level.

WCCFTech said the Pixel 4a will remain competitive in the shooting department because it is Google made but one thing is sure, there will be no excess of sensors. It should be next to impossible that the phone will include a telephoto capability.

However, the inclusion of a fingerprint reader at the rear was suggested by the leaks, and this will at least compensate for the lack of other biometric security features. Also, a big plus is the availability of a 3.5mm audio port, a feature that is increasingly becoming extinct in most Android phone models.

It is expected too that the Pixel 4a will be packed with a larger battery capacity from its predecessor and to think that the device will unbox with an IPS LCD panel, this gives the assurance of longer operating hours.

As for the driving force to make the Pixel device running smoothly, it is safe to assume that Qualcomm's upcoming Snapdragon 865 is not part of the deal. Instead, Android fans can expect the Snapdragon 765 to be on board, which should hint that 5G connectivity is offered out of the box.

Google is believed to issue the Pixel 4a and Pixel 4a XL by the middle part of 2020, likely in time for the I/O Developers Conference that the search giant usually stages in May or June. The gadget intro should coincide with the Android 11 unveiling, as usual, the case.
