Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have been criticized for their decision to go on a six-week break. Allegedly, the Sussexes were requested to go home for the holidays after Prince Philip spent days in the hospital. However, Christmas came and went, they weren't seen in Sandringham.
Royal expert Eliot Wilson predicted that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex would receive criticisms for their six-week break. He said that their break was quite too long when their royal jobs were not like as nurses, police officers, and firefighters, who didn't enjoy the same privilege.
According to Sky News, the royal couple extended their vacation, spending a six-week Christmas break in Canada. Hence, royal fans questioned their need to have a break that long.
One Twitter user mocked Prince Harry and Meghan Markle for taking a break after enjoying their vacation. "Taking a holiday because they are exhausted from all their other holidays," the fan said. Another one added that he didn't know Christmas lasted six weeks. A netizen then suggested that they should be removed from the civil list as he didn't want to fund their lavish lives.
According to Daily Mail Online, royal family members urged Prince Harry and Meghan Markle to return to the U.K. to spend Christmas with them after Prince Philip spend his fourth night in the hospital. They both missed Queen Elizabeth's pre-Christmas lunch at Buckingham Palace and didn't attend the traditional royal family gathering in Sandringham on Christmas Day.
"Even before the Duke became ill, many were at a loss as to why Harry and Meghan would miss what could be one of the last family Christmases with the Queen and Philip," a source told The Sun. Surely, they were entitled to have a break and privacy, but they already had a six-week break. Hence, what about Prince Harry's family who wanted to have photos and build memories with his kid, baby Archie?
A lot of royal family members wanted to celebrate Christmas with baby Archie, but they couldn't because they were in another country. Meghan Markle and Prince Harry brought their seven-month-old son to Canada to celebrate the holidays with the former actress' family and mother, Doria Ragland.
The insider continued to say that there seemed to be a feeling that they were inconsiderate and selfish, given Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip's advancing age. Allegedly, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were in Canada to think of everything that happened to them this year and see if they still wanted to work as royals.
