T.O.P is very active on social media. The BIGBANG star shares almost everything under the sun on his account — from arts, to selfies, and even bizarre photos and clips.
But his recent post dropped a lot of jaws as T.O.P was seen wearing a BTS merchandise while making a video call. The BIGBANG star was sporting polka dots pajamas and a BT21 Shooky headband.
While seeing an idol wearing other group’s merchandise is nothing new, this is quite a big deal since fanwars between BIGBANG and BTS are still going on. Although it’s not as heavy as before, some fans are still fighting over the “Kings of K-pop” title.
BIGBANG’s G-Dragon, T.O.P, Taeyang, Daesung, and former member Seungri are known as the “Kings of K-pop” in the industry. Even though the YG Entertainment boy group has earned this title fair and square, other ARMYs are arguing that the title should belong to BTS.
VIPs are not very happy with the claims as they felt that some ARMYs are discrediting BIGBANG’s accomplishments. They believe that BTS may be the biggest K-pop boyband in the world right now, but that doesn’t mean that BIGBANG is not worthy of the title anymore.
With that said, seeing T.O.P with a BT21 Shooky headband is a reminder to everyone that idols support each other — the same company or not. However, there is also the possibility that T.O.P had no idea that he was wearing a BTS merchandise.
It could be a gift to him, or he bought it because he found it cute, etc. Or maybe he purchased it because he also supports BTS, just like how BTS supports BIGBANG.
In fact, BTS is BIGBANG’s ultimate fanboys. Jungkook even decided to become a K-pop star because of G-Dragon. Jin’s role model is T.O.P, while Jimin’s is Taeyang.
Meanwhile, with K-pop groups being formed almost daily, it is a huge accomplishment for bands to be finally noticed. If they’re lucky, they can be successful and even reach superstardom.
Big Hit Entertainment was a small company, so when BTS debuted, RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V, and Jungkook probably didn’t expect to be where they are today. Knowing their struggles in the past, ARMYs have always been very protective of the boys. They are also extremely proud of their current success.
However, some ARMYs are taking things a little too far. Instead of just focusing on BTS’ success, they compare it to other K-pop groups. It is worth noting that this unfortunate attitude is not only limited to ARMYs, as other fandoms are also doing the same thing.
