BTS V became a top Twitter topic in the US after appearing on Dick Clark's Rockin' New Year's Eve in New York and earned the new nickname, the guy with long black coat.

In the same vein as BTS Jin when he first came into the radar of American fans during the Billboard Music Awards and earned the title "worldwide handsome," BTS V's strong visuals were enough to cause a Twitter frenzy among viewers who had no idea who he was and only knew him as the guy with long black coat.

The guy with long black coat and the guy with the dark hair immediately became Twitter's top trends as fans were stunned by Kim Taehyung's gorgeous visuals during Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve show where BTS was among the performers.

According to a report by All Kpop, the crowd arrived en masse for BTS' performance where they hyped up the crowd with their Make it Right and Boy with Luv numbers. Reporters even said that the event suddenly became an impromptu BTS concert with the amount of ARMYs who made up the crowd.

This was not the first time that BTS V won the hearts of music fans who had no idea who he was. It can be recalled that during BTS' first concert in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia last year, Kim Taehyung trended globally for the nickname the one with the green mic after his amazing performance in the show.

V stunned the audience with his amazing visuals where he appeared like a beautiful shinigami for his performance of Singularity and generated new fans who remembered that he carried a sparkly green mic throughout the show. However, new fans from the Middle East were still unfamiliar with all the names of the BTS members so they simply asked on Twitter what V's name was.

Global ARMYs indulged new fans and trended Taehyung, V's real name.

In related news, BTS V celebrated his 24th birthday last December 30 amid much celebration from fans all over the world who were involved with Project Vionysus. The project involved renting a giant billboard in New York's Times Square and various locations all over the globe to congratulate V on his birthday.

There was also a massive subway campaign where an entire line was decorated with images of V. Fans also devoted an entire purple zone at the 2019 Seoul Christmas festival to celebrate V's birthday.

BTS V's fans also raised USD$5,000 to donate to children with cancer in Korea. V stans started the campaign last December 13 which ended on Christmas day. The drive was supported by local and international ARMYs, Koreaboo reported.

"We are very thankful for the people who put together this meaning donation to help children with cancer and their families, as a way to celebrate V's birthday. Many of the children love BTS; this donation will be a gift that brings them a lot of joy, " the Korean Association for Children with Leukemia and Cancer said in its statement.
