Ivanka Trump committed a spelling mistake on Twitter that had critics ridiculing the president's favorite child. She posted a tribute to the U.S. marines but she overlooked spelling one simple word right.
On New Year's Day, Ivanka wrote her greetings via Twitter for the servicemen who tirelessly worked to keep America safe during the holiday. However, critics were more concerned that she spelled "heroes" as "heros" and wasted no time mocking the president's daughter.
One netizen wrote that spelling seems not a strong family trait as even President Donald Trump makes a lot of spelling mistakes in his tweets. Another user encouraged Ivanka to learn how to spell while some said that her greetings to the servicemen were "empty words" since the Trumps are apparently clueless about their role in the White House.
This wasn't the first time Ivanka made a spelling mistake. In October 2019, she wrote "Noble Peace Prize" instead of Nobel Peace Prize to congratulate Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed. She was also ridiculed for posting "United Kingston" instead of United Kingdom when she congratulated Prime Minister Boris Johnson's win in July 2019. The president's daughter immediately deleted that tweet but not before netizens had a field day.
Meanwhile, her spelling faux pas doesn't matter to her father who just confirmed Ivanka and her husband Jared Kushner as the official representatives of the White House in the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland. Happening on Jan. 20 to 24, the summit will also include Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin, Labor Secretary Eugene Scalia, Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross, Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer, Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao, undersecretary of State Keith Krach, and assistant to the president Chris Liddell as the delegates from the United States.
Ivanka's assignment comes as her capacity to engage financial and foreign leaders at the Davos forum was questioned by netizens after seeing her mix with wold leaders at the G-20 in Japan. According to Politico, some people thought that Ivanka's body language and comments were "out of place" in the summit of world leaders. Many were also surprised that she was asked to speak about gender equity in the said international event.
But President Trump will not likely call off the Davos delegate this year as the U.S. already missed last year's Switzerland gathering. President Trump cancelled the U.S. delegation's attendance in Davos in 2019 due to the government shutdown over the funding of the border wall near Mexico.
