The royal family welcomes the new decade with a historical picture. Queen Elizabeth II poses along with her three heirs to the throne, Prince Charles, Prince William, and Prince George, and they all look great.

It was the second time that the palace released a photo of Her Majesty with future kings. The first one was out in 2016, at the time when the Queen celebrated her 90th birthday. Both pictures were taken by the photographer Ranald Mackechnie, per Express.

The latest snap was taken in Buckingham Palace's throne room before Christmas, although it was only released on Friday, January 3, in time for the New Year. Queen Elizabeth stood in the front, wearing her white dressed, accessorized with a blue brooch while she was holding her signature handbag.

Behind her on the left side was Prince William in his dark suit and navy blue tie. On the other side was Prince Charles in his navy pinstripe suit and Prince George in his tartan trousers and white shirt, displaying a mischievous smile.

The new portrait was out two weeks after the royal family marked the festive season with a series of photos. In the earlier snaps, Queen Elizabeth, Prince Charles, Prince William, and Prince George were making Christmas puddings in Buckingham Palace. They were in front of a huge Christmas tree adorned with regal corgi and crown on decorations. At the time, the Monarch hosted the annual Christmas lunch.

There was also a clip of the event that was shared on the royal family's social media accounts on Christmas Day. In the video, Prince George could be seen having a hard time mixing the thick pudding mixture with his wooden spoon that made everyone chuckled. It was also played when Queen Elizabeth delivered her Christmas message.

In Her Royal Highness' 67th Christmas Day Speech, she was surrounded by the pictures of the royal family. Here, she mentioned the happiness they felt when Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's child, Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor, arrived, Independent noted. The newest addition to the family was their eighth great-grandchild.

Queen Elizabeth also praised the young people who continuously tackle environmental issues. She said that the year 2019 was marked by climate activism of school strikers and campaigners, following the lead of the Swedish teenager Greta Thunberg.

The scandals that Queen Elizabeth also faced in 2019 loomed in her speech, although she didn't directly mention anything about Prince Andrew, Prince Harry, and Meghan Markle. She also touched on the subject of political crisis.
