Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are heavily criticized for their decision to spend the holidays in the U.S. instead of spending it with Queen Elizabeth and the rest of the royal family. But, is this enough reason for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex to be removed from the royal family?
Recently, The Royal Family official Twitter account shared a photo of Queen Elizabeth, Prince Charles, Prince William, and Prince George. The caption read: “To mark the start of a new decade, a portrait has been released of Her Majesty The Queen and Their Royal Highnesses The Prince of Wales, The Duke of Cambridge and Prince George.”
The snap, which featured only four members of the royal family, makes a lot of sense. Queen Elizabeth is the reigning monarch of the United Kingdom and the other Commonwealth realms, while Prince Charles is the first in line, Prince William is second, and Prince George is third in the line of succession to the British throne.
However, a new report claims that there is a hidden meaning behind the portrait. Express shared that this was a sign of Prince Charles removing Prince Harry and Meghan Markle from the royal family just like what he did with Prince Andrew back then.
“It comes after weeks of speculation that the Prince of Wales is pushing for a pared-down monarchy which could see many members of the royal family further down the line of succession booted out,” the report read. “Evidence of Charles’s plans go back as far as 2012 when just six members of the royal family stood on the palace balcony to watch the flypast to market the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee. The Queen was joined by Charles, the Duchess of Cornwall, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and the Duke of Sussex.”
Although most royal fans gushed over the New Year photo, some saw Prince Charles’ alleged motive.
“All the future generations of the throne with our current Queen Elizabeth,” one wrote. “Fantastic photo and it’s not every day you see four generations together and all of them vibrant and beautiful,” another one shared, while one royal fan commented that “This is the start of what Prince Charles envisions; a slimmed-down monarchy. Expect more events with just the four of them or photographs like this until he can really follow through with plans to phase out members of the royal family from royal duties, tax exemption… etc.”
So, are Prince Harry and Meghan Markle still part of the royal family? Technically, yes, since the Duke of Sussex is the song of Prince Charles and Princess Diana. However, it remains to be seen if Prince Charles' alleged plans to remove the Sussex couple from the clan are true. Hence, avid followers of Archie's parents should take these speculations with a huge grain of salt until everything is proven true and correct.
