Kate Middleton is celebrating her 38th birthday last week. The future Queen can choose whoever she wants to be on her birthday bash and it doesn't include Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.
Rumors have it that the Duchess of Cambridge did not invite her brother and sister-in-law to her birthday celebration at their residence in Norfolk. Kate reportedly sent out invites for her birthday on Jan. 9 and Harry and Meghan were not among those who received it.
According to People, the celebration started with a pre-birthday gathering of the Duke and Duchess closest friends at their Norfolk country home. Among those who were spotted with the Cambridges are Kate's parents Michael and Carole Middleton, Thomas Van Straubenzee and his fiancée Lucy Lanigan-O'Keeffe, Lady Laura and James Meade, and David, the 7th Marquess of Cholmondeley, and his wife Rose Hanbury, the Marchioness of Cholmondeley.
It can be noticed that the attendees are the Cambridges' closest friends. Thomas van Straubenzee is one of William's closest pals and also the godfather to Princess Charlotte. His fiancée Lucy is a teacher at Thomas's Battersea, where the royal couple's eldest children are students.
Lady Laura Meade is Prince Louis' godmother and she is married to William's close friend, James Meade. The Marquess and Marchioness of Cholmondeley, on the other hand, have been friends of William and Kate for over a decade.
The royal couple typically set aside a weekend at the start of the year to entertain their friends for a few days of shooting and dinner at Sandringham House which is hosted by the Queen. This year, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, along with their early guests, also joined Queen Elizabeth II at St. Mary Magdalene Church at Sandringham.
Kate Middleton's alleged snub on Prince Harry and Meghan Markle sparked rumors that the rift between the royal couples' hasn't healed yet. It can be recalled that Harry admitted on a TV documentary that he and his brother, Prince William, are on "different paths" at the moment. Harry revealed that he and William seldom see each other lately because of their busy schedule.
"Part of this role and part of this job and this family being under the pressure that it's under, stuff happens. We're certainly on different paths at the moment but I will always be there for him and as I know he'll always be there for me," he said.
However, this is not the first time Kate didn't invite the Sussexes to her birthday bash. Last year, the mother-of-three had two royal celebrations and in both events, Meghan and Harry were not invited.
The Sussexes are expected to return to their royal duties in the new year but there is still no word on when Harry and Meghan will return to the UK. They are believed to be on their extended break in Canada with their son, Archie.
