Last year, Sony Interactive Entertainment officially announced its next-generation gaming console, the PlayStation 5. Aside from the Solid State Drive (SSD) and the haptic feedback on its upcoming controller, the Japanese console makers has not yet revealed much about the PS5. While there are leaks and speculations making rounds every now and then, Sony Interactive Entertainment boss Jim Ryan said that major and distinct features of the PlayStation 5 are not yet unveiled to the public.
The tempting tease by Sony President Jim Ryan comes in a recent interview with Business Insider Japan thru Gematsu. During the interview, Sony's boss talked about a lot of things, including its next-generation gaming console, the PlayStation 5 along with what has been said about the gaming console, and what Sony has left to reveal. There are still unique elements that are not yet revealed about the PlayStation 5, according to Ryan.
It includes bigger differences that distinguish the PS5 from its predecessor and its rival consoles, adds the SIE president. Whenever a new gaming console is released, its processor and graphics improve. Ryan says. While those are enticing, we need to have special appeals as well, stating that the company has earlier revealed the Solid State Drive of the PS5.
One of the major changes coming to the gaming industry is having load times that are next to nothing, Ryan says. The haptic feedback support of the next generation PS5 controller along with the 3D audio are also factors that when you try them, you will be surprised at how massive a change they are, the Sony president notes. Even just playing the game "Gran Turismo Sport" on the next generation gaming console is a totally different experience, Ryan shares.
Although the game runs very well with the earlier controller, after you experience the detailed road surface through the haptic control and play using the adaptive triggers, there is no going back, the Sony executive states. But, there are still more unique elements for PlayStation 5 that distinguish it from its predecessor. More significant differences are yet to be announced, Jim Ryan teases.
The Sony Interactive Entertainment boss, unfortunately, does not say when these bigger elements will be revealed to the public. But, it might come as early as February if we based it on the official reveal of the PlayStation 4. One of the unique features that the PlayStation 5 might reveal could be scene tagging, which could introduce a massive focus on user-generated content.
Sony's PlayStation 5 is releasing sometime in the holiday of 2020.
