Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, recently, announced that they will be stepping aside from their royal duties to become financially independent from taxpayers. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex detailed in their website that they want to be released from the privileged accorded to working royals through the Sovereign Grant of Queen Elizabeth.

However, according Daily Express, Prince Harry and Meghan is sacrificing just five percent of its royal income that comes from the Sovereign Grant. The Sussex royals did not say if they would also like to be released from the purse of Prince Harry's father, Prince Charles, who is funding 95 percent of their lifestyle.

Officials at the palace can't confirm with Daily Express if Prince Charles will continue to support Prince Harry and Meghan after making known their intention to be released from the Sovereign Grant. Prince Charles supports 95 percent of the lifestyle of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex through the income of the Duchy of Cornwall.

What's clear, for now, is that Buckingham Palace said this will be a complicated process. According to The Telegraph, Queen Elizabeth has called an emergency meeting with the royal family in light of Prince Harry and Meghan's announcement. Her Majesty directed Prince Charles, Prince William and Prince Harry "to work together at pace" and find a workable solution to what the Sussex royals want.

Sources speculate taht the Prince of Wales might decide to withhold Prince Harry and Meghan's funding from the Duchy of Cornwall. He might also order Prince Harry and Meghan to pay rent for their home in Frogmore Cottage at Windsor Castle.

Prince Harry is not without any means to support himself and his family though. Like Prince William, he received millions in inheritance from Princess Diana and the Queen Mother after their death. Meghan also has an estimated net worth of $5 million from her earnings as Hollywood actress.

Amid the meeting at Buckingham Palace, reports now state that Meghan flew back to Canada without Prince Harry. According to Daily Mail, she returned to North America because Archie, the baby's nanny and Meghan's mother, Doria Ragland, are still enjoying their holiday there.

Meghan flew back to London with Prince Harry a few days after the New Year. However, it was reportedly planned as a flying visit only as Meghan wanted to get back to Archie immediately.
