Now that the Sussexes announce their plan to step down from their royal duties, news emerged that the two duchesses haven't spoken to each other for almost half a year after they, allegedly, cut ties on the royal family's WhatsApp chat group.
The alleged rift caused the two to be further apart. According to The Sun, the news comes after Meghan Markle seemed to snub Kate Middleton's 38th birthday on Jan. 9.
Prince Harry's wife returned to Canada to re-join her 9-month-old son, baby Archie, who they left in the country after their six-week holiday break. With that, the future queen consort, reportedly, felt snubbed that Meghan Markle was a no show at her birthday celebration at Kensington Palace.
Both Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were also absent at her birthday weekend at Sandringham. To make matters worse, there were also rumors that the controversial royal couple turned to Elton John and secretly told him their plan to quit their royal lives before they even informed Queen Elizabeth II about it.
Allegedly, an insider said that Elton John is in constant phone calls with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex and speaks to them every day. He is an inspiration for the two and has been a "motherly figure" to them as they go through this controversy.
Although Prince Harry and Meghan Markle make their decision on their own, the famed singer has been their shoulder to lean on. He has been reportedly listening to them as they speak about their plans.
Another source added that Elton John had been their rock. Although he never tells them what to do, he has been their listening ear. The legendary singer's spokesman later cleared that the royal couple made their decisions alone and not influenced by anyone with their "future happiness and wellbeing in mind." He also admires how they control their own lives.
Meanwhile, royal experts believe that Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton's alleged feud may be true at all to a certain extent. Fox News reported that the distress began when Meghan, reportedly, made Kate cried over an argument that involved Prince Charlotte's bridesmaid dress for her wedding with Prince Harry in 2018.
It was said to be the reason why Meghan Markle and Prince Harry decided to move out of Kensington Palace, where Kate Middleton and Prince Harry also live. In Leslie Carroll's American Princess: The Love Story of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry, she said that, although she didn't believe there was a war between the two, it was not a surprise that they might clash at times.
