Prince Philip is, reportedly, furious about Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's resignation. The Duke of Edinburgh is not only mad that his grandson and wife are leaving the monarchy but also because Queen Elizabeth II is upset about it.
His Royal Highness is reportedly "spitting blood" after learning the news of the Sussexes' plan to step down from their royal duties. Upon knowing their announcement, the prince is said to react furiously, saying the Duke of Sussex disrespected the Queen.
It has been reported multiple times that Queen Elizabeth only has little knowledge about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's royal exit until she happens to read it on her iPad at Sandringham and sees it on the news. Although Prince Philip is already retired and stays in a farmhouse in Norfolk, Express noted that he returns to the main house to comfort his "disappointed" wife amidst the crisis.
"To say that the Duke feels let down would be a considerable understatement," a source told The Sun. He also questioned what did Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were trying to play after being told about their announcement.
Just like Queen Elizabeth, Prince Philip is said to be deeply hurt with what happened. He was "spitting blood" when the aides told him about it. He, then, accused the Sussexes of lacking respect and is also wary of their behavior.
After they didn't spend Christmas with the royal family, which Prince Philip and Queen Elizabeth gladly accepted, they now stepped down from their royal posts. Aside from its many effects in the monarchy, the prince's primary concern is its impact on Her Majesty. In fact, a lot of his anger is because Her Royal Highness is upset.
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry dropped an explosive statement about their plan to step back from their duties as members of the royal family. They wanted to be financially independent and to divide their time between the U.K. and North America, probably in Canada.
Daily Mail noted that the two didn't consult Queen Elizabeth or Prince Charles about the contents of their announcement before they posted it on Instagram. The news also came after Prince Philip was confined in King Edward VII's hospital in central London for four nights for the treatment of his pre-existing medical condition in December. His admission was, reportedly, a precautionary measure and observation because of his poor health that resulted in a flu-like illness and a bad fall.
