In December 2019, Xiaomi's sub-brand Redmi launched the K30 and K30 5G, with the latter going live only in January of this year and is only available in China. The Xiaomi Redmi K30 has been certified in India and is planning to release in other markets, according to a new report. As part of the company's marketing campaign (perhaps), a Xiaomi executive teases that the display of the upcoming device will exceed the highest 120 Hz refresh rate.
On the Chinese social networking site Weibo, Xiaomi Redmi General manager Lu Weibing flaunts the Redmi K30 display with a 144 Hz refresh rate. Unfortunately, the feature is currently being tested on the upcoming smartphone. In other words, there is no guarantee that the company will ship the Redmi K30 with a higher refresh rate.
The Redmi K30 variant shown in the video is the 5G model and not the regular one. But, the question is, why would the general manager tease something that will not be released soon? It will only give the company a negative image if it teases something that it will not release.
The Xiaomi Redmi K30 5G packs a 4500 mAh battery cell, so in theory, if ever it sports a 144 Hz refresh rate, a fast battery drain will not be an issue. At present, the specs of the smartphone's display is at 120 Hz, which is actually higher than what other smartphones in the market are offering. But, should Redmi K30 5G end up featuring a 144 refresh rate on its display, it can boost the mid-range smartphone and gain an advantage over its rivals.
The Redmi K30 5G features a 6.67-inch FHD punch-hole screen with two selfie cameras. It also sports a quad-rear camera set up with a 64 MP primary camera. The device supports 30W fast charging with Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G SoC.
The Xiaomi Redmi K30 5G retails at $284. The higher-end model comes with 8GB of RAM. According to Wccftech, Xiaomi is preparing to launch Redmi K30 5G models with 10 GB of Ram and 12 GB of RAM.
However, while these specs are exciting, it is worth noting that these are not official yet, and Xiaomi does not say that it would indeed release the Redmi K30 5G variant with a higher refresh rate. In this case, take this information with a pinch of salt. In other Xiaomi news, a new report claims that the company has filed a trademark for POCO F2 in China. Fans are anticipating that the much-awaited POCO F2 would soon be released based on the release pattern of the company.
