Cydia Substrate, an important jailbreak tool, got an update courtesy of developer Saurik, and it is now fully compatible with any jailbroken iPhones or iPads running on the latest iOS 13 version. The bump also provided a fix that would make for a more stable jailbreaking experience.
It has been a while since Cydia was last enhanced by Saurik, whose real name is Jay Freeman, and the latest build now carries the version number 0.9.7100. The most notable upgrade included in the new package is the support of iOS 13, from the original release up to version up to 13.3.
Theoretically, the new Cydia Substrate will work starting on the iPhone 5S and up to the iPhone X, provided these devices run on the unlocked iOS 13 version. Of course, this will be made possible by the use of Unc0ver and Checkra1n jailbreaking tools.
With the Cydia Substrate working with any of the two jailbreak instruments mentioned, users can start injecting tweaks on their jailbroken devices.
According to iPhone Hacks, Saurik also deployed with the latest update a patch that would fix a serious resource leak identified in the last version. Left unresolved, the flaw would "eventually cause Substrate to lock up and break.
This particular issue will bug users following a device restart, but installing the latest from Saurik will make the problem disappear. Updating is a breeze as users need only to launch Cydia for the prompt to start.
For users not seeing the update prompt after opening the Cydia app, it is advised that they reload the sources repository.
Following the bump provided by Saurik, Cydia is better than ever, and that is according to Sam Bingner, who is part of the teams that worked on the Unc0ver and Checkra1n jailbreaks, WCCFTech reported. Bingner shared that the dev's latest work led to the resolution of the jailbreak issue, which was "due to a mach port name leak that would cause it to no longer be able to modify processes after spawning somewhere around 50,000 processes."
The jailbreak creator attested that when updated, Cydia will run smooth and clean as shown by stress tests, which he added were conducted in "in the few hundred thousand processes.
"The version number is now non-beta as the known issues of stability and cynject have been fixed. The update is on elucubratus if you're using a non-A12 device," Bingner was reported as saying.
