Prince William's alleged reaction to his brother's decision to step down from his royal duties is now in the headlines. The Duke of Cambridge is, reportedly, sad about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's plan to resign as senior members of the royal family. However, when they were still young, Princess Diana's former bodyguard revealed that the Duke of Sussex told his older sibling that he could do what he wanted because he was not set to be a king like him.

Former protection officer to the royal family Ken Wharfe told LBC, via Express, that he overheard Prince Harry mocking Prince William while they were in car going to Gloucester from London. It happened 30 years ago, and Meghan Markle's husband was only four years old at the time.

Wharfe explained that the siblings were locked in an argument while in the car. In the middle of the argument, Prince Harry suddenly said that Prince William would be a king one day and he wouldn't, so he could do whatever he wanted.

Her son's statement surprised Princess Diana, questioning where he got that idea from. "You have to remember he's one of the most popular members of the Royal family and we watched and witnessed the wedding in Windsor, and everyone said it was the future of the monarchy," Wharfe explained.

Sadly, everything is now falling apart due to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's decision to step down from their royal duties. Prince William, reportedly, broke his silence about the issue, admitting the news made him sad.

The Sunday Times reported that Prince William is less incensed but sadder about the announcement of their exit. Kate Middleton's husband, now, feels sorry that he cannot put his arm around his younger brother any longer after doing it all their lives. They are now separate entities who have their own lives, making their paths.

"I'm sad about that," he said. Now, all that he and the rest of the royal family can do is to try and support them. They also hope that the time will come that they will all be singing from the same page again.

Queen Elizabeth, recently, called for a royal summit at Sandringham to address the issue about Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's exit. Her Majesty discussed the future of the Sussexes along with Prince Charles and Prince William.

In a statement, the Queen said that they are entirely supportive of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's decision to create a new life as a young family. She also revealed that they would remain a valuable part of the royal family.
