In 2019, Apple released the powerful 16-inch MacBook Pro with a new magic keyboard, which many Apple and MacBook fans love. Recently, 9to5mac reports that a new mode is found in the macOS Catalina beta version 10.15.3 referencing to Pro Mode. The report triggers speculations that the Cupertino company might be looking into a new way to amp its MacBook line up with the Pro Mode feature.

The code found in the new macOS beta build reveals that with the Pro Mode enabled, apps may run faster. However, fan noise could increase and could override its speed limit. Also, the battery life of the device may decrease, reports 9to5mac.

It appears that the Pro Mode feature could boost the performance of the MacBook at the expense of its battery life. In other words, the alleged MacBook feature is something users would enable if they want a temporary boost. The discovered code also mentions that the mode could be automatically switched off a day after it was enabled.

The Pro Mode feature coming to the MacBook is a welcome change to boost the device's performance for free. Unfortunately, the report claims that it would only be available to MacBooks and not to iPads, iPhones, or Macs. At this point, nothing is official yet about the Pro Mode feature on MacBooks.

Unfortunately, it seems that it would only be released on the latest 16-inch MacBook Pro, according to 9to5mac, because it is the only model with a new thermal design. In line with the Pro Mode discussions, developer Marco Arment shares through his blog that Apple should also release iOS-like low profile mode for MacBooks. Arment reveals that he is using a third-party app called Turbo Boost Switcher Pro to achieve the low power mode.

He shares that the method enables him to prolong the life of his MacBook by 30 to 50 percent. The mode also provides nearly inaudible fan noise and cooler laptop because it powers down the Turbo Boost of the Intel processor. Meanwhile, a published Apple's EEC application for a portable personal computer was found on the EEC database earlier this week.

It hints that the company might introduce a new MacBook this year. And, if the latest discovery in the macOS beta build pans out, we are hoping that the upcoming MacBook would have the Pro Mode feature. But, we suggest not to get too excited about the Pro Mode since, at this point, it is not yet official.
