The release of the 16-inch MacBook Pro last year is a strong statement from the Cupertino company Apple that it listens to the consumers. The current generation premium laptop from Apple introduced the scissor-switch keyboard that replaced the problematic butterfly keyboard design. But, it seems that Apple is planning to release a new 13-inch MacBook Pro with a far better keyboard if a recent EEC filing is to go by.

A recent Apple filing found on the database of the Eurasian Economic Commission a day before Christmas last year hints at an upcoming MacBook. 9To5mac first spotted the EEC filing and mentions that the product could be the next-generation 13-inch MacBook Pro with redesigned Magic Keyboard and scissor-switch found in last year's 16-inch MacBook Pro. The unreleased product has a model number A2289 with Apple describing it as a portable personal computer that runs on macOS 10.15.

These are the only details available on the EEC filing, and it does not explicitly mention any Apple MacBook Pro model. An EEC filing usually means an imminent release, which could be a couple of months away, according to The Verge. The site also mentions that the EEC filings in the past revealed the upcoming Apple products not long before their official releases.

The 10.5-inch iPad was first discovered in the EEC database prior to its announcement at the WWDC 2017. The same applies to the 9.7-inch iPad before its official announcement in Mar. 2018. The latest EEC filing could be a strong indication that a second MacBook pro with a better keyboard is on its way, according to The Verge.

Considering that the filing only says MacBook, we are not sure which one would it be. The Verge's Jay Peters predicts it could be the 13-inch MacBook Pro, which Apple refreshed in May 2019. The writer also says it could be a new MacBook Air or probably a new entry-level MacBook Pro.

Earlier reports suggested that various release window but all fall on the same year-2020. Digitimes claims that the new MacBook model would arrive in the first half of this year. TFI analyst and reputable Apple tipster Ming-Chi Kuo accurately predicted in Jul. 2019 the arrival of the 16-inch MacBook Pro.

But, based on his earlier predictions, Apple might introduce the scissor-switch keyboard once again to both MacBook Air and 13-inch MacBook Pro this year. Since this is just an EEC filing, we suggest taking this information with a pinch of salt.
