The boxing world seems destined to witness historical fights in 2020, possibly starting off with Floyd Mayweather Jr. agreeing on a rematch with Conor McGregor or Manny Pacquiao, or the latter two squaring off on top of the ring. It is believed, however, that before any of these mega-fights can proceed, the Pacman has to meet someone else.

One candidate emerging as Pacquiao's next foe is Danny Garcia, who is gunning to regain a world title in the welterweight division. The American seems convinced Pacquiao would be willing to box with him, and he can promise that the Filipino boxing icon will not be disappointed.

Garcia said Pacquiao would see he is a fighter that will not go down easily. His stance will be hard for the eight-division world champion to deal with, per the report from World Boxing News.

"With Manny, I feel like my counter punching and style would also be hard for him," Garcia was reported as saying.

Or Pacquiao, whose last outing was his conquer of Keith Thurman in July 2019, could pick a fight with Errol Spence Jr., who is positioning for a comeback fight following a car accident last year that miraculously left him unhurt.

WBN said Spence would soon get back to training mode, and the plain is to duel with big names in the welterweight division, meaning he will only slug it out with the likes of Pacquiao or Garcia. As Pacquiao is the reigning WBA super welterweight champ, he is on top of Spence's list.

"I want to fight Pacquiao ... I want the top names. I do want to be the undisputed champion of the world," Spence was reported as saying.

"I took some time off and now I think I'm rejuvenated. I'm ready to get back in the gym and train hard and hopefully fight one of the top fighters," he added.

However, getting Pacquiao's attention could prove harder in light of the recent pronouncement coming from both Mayweather and McGregor. The latter, for instance, made claims that he's close to getting the Filipino to agree for a day on top of the ring.

In case the two legends meet, the MMA superstar has indicated he would fight under boxing rules, and that happening is seen as "viable" this 2020, Business Insider reported.

"Pacquiao makes sense, absolutely. It's enormous ... It's a fight that can be made. I think we'll see that fight. Pacquiao is at the end, and a bout with McGregor is viable this year," the report quoted boxing analyst Gareth Davies as saying.

Gareth is estimating that a Pacquiao vs. McGregor could easily generate up to $250 million, and that could serve as the send-off party for the 41-year-old boxing icon. Pacquiao, though, is rumored too to co-star in a rematch with Mayweather.

And when the Pacquiao vs. McGregor becomes real, Gareth warned that it would be dangerous for the Irishman: "Pacquiao knocks him out. And I mean knocks him out."
