It was previously reported that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are prevented from using their HRH (His Royal Highness or Her Royal Highness) titles after the announcement of their withdrawal from being senior royals. Now, a new report claims that the couple’s titles are still being reviewed.

Despite their withdrawal, the couple is still known as Harry, Duke of Sussex and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex. However, this title needs to be looked at as the style was only used for women who have divorced members of the Royal Family. Princess Diana (Prince Charles’ ex-wife) was referred to as Diana, Princess of Wales, and Sarah Ferguson (Prince Andrew’s ex-wife) was referred to as Sarah, Duchess of York.

Obviously, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are very much together, which is why their titles, especially the former actress, don’t suit their status. And because of this, Sky News’s royal correspondent Rhiannon Mills shared that the couple’s titles needed to be reviewed.

“Palace sources have told me they are continuing to review how the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will be referred to in the future after it appears Meghan was mistakenly given the style or title of a divorced woman,” she said. “The problem lies in the comma. Meghan, Duchess of Sussex.”

While Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s titles have yet to be sorted out, the Duke of Sussex stepped out for one of his last engagements on Sunday night. He gave a speech at a dinner for his charity Sentebale and addressed his decision for stepping back as a senior royal.

“Once Meghan and I were married, we were excited, we were hopeful, and we were here to serve,” he said. “For those reasons, it brings me great sadness that it has come to this. The decision that I have made for my wife and I to step back, is not one I made lightly. It was so many months of talks after so many years of challenges. And I know I haven’t always gotten it right, but as far as this goes, there really was no other option.”

Prince Harry then assured the charity that their withdrawal from being senior royals had nothing to do with their relationship with the foundation. He explained that even though he wanted to serve them, it is impossible "without public funding."
