Prodigal Son episode 12 is arriving on Fox next week, with the title "Internal Affairs." This episode proved to be an interesting one since Bright needs to deal with the Internal Affairs, aside from dealing with the murder case. He might not keep his association with the police and this could cause conflict along with big consequences.
In the Prodigal Son episode 12, a mysterious and catastrophic incident occurred in the precinct. So, Bright faces an internal affairs review because Gil and the team are worried about his mental health. This is likely setting up some big events in some future episodes, with everyone around Bright may doubt his ability due to his condition.
Viewers may see some misunderstandings between Bright and the police in Prodigal Son episode 12. But then, that issue will probably be resolved since the series is all about him working and maintaining his relationship with the police. If ever, the conflict might only be short-term, and then he'll be working smoothly with them once again.
Meanwhile, some painful events happened in the midseason premiere of the series. Bright was captured by the Junkyard Killer in the fall finale. He, then, finds himself in a dungeon-like place and the Junkyard Killer -- whose real name is John Watkins -- joins him. After some time, Bright told Watkins that he's just a product of a terrible upbringing and not meant to be a serial killer.
However, the Watkins defended his killings and said it was his calling. He, then, told Bright he can also be a murderer as long as he gives him a series of trials. Eventually, Watkins revealed Bright stabbed him during the camping trip, and to make it even, the Junkyard Killer also stabs him. Bright gets unstable from blood loss, but he focused on surviving.
The most shocking part of this episode is that Watkins revealed to Bright that his father brought him on the camping trip to kill him. Apparently, Martin Whitly was frustrated the chloroform-soaked rag didn't work well on his son, and he decided to murder him when he started to remember things.
In the end, Bright reunites with his mother and sister, who are both thrilled to see him. When Jessica asked him if he killed Watkins, Bright said no and assured his mother that he Junkyard Killer would never hurt them again.
Prodigal Son episode 12 will air on Monday, Jan. 27, on Fox.
