While helping the NYPD investigating murders, he also needs to deal with the psychological impact of reuniting with his father.

Prodigal Son premiered to a 1.0 demo rating and a total of 4 million viewers; making it as the Premiere Week's top-rated new program, then the rating held steady in Week 2. With Live+3 DVR playback factored in, these numbers increased by 50 percent. The series also ranked second-highest grade out of 13 series launches in TVLine's premiere week polling.
