The Cleveland Cavaliers of today is but a shadow of the LeBron James-led club that broke the dominance of the Golden State Warriors. The Cavs are unlikely to advance beyond the regular season, and Kevin Love is reportedly looking to follow the route taken by James and Kyrie Irving. He wants out, and Cleveland seems to feel the same way.
If Love will be moving out, his plan is to suit up for a team that is in clear contention. It's obvious the power forward is looking to play for a squad that will be in the playoffs, and surely, the 31-year-old veteran will still command attention.
But where Love plays next will depend on a host of factor and foremost is flexibility, according to Fansided. That's the Cavs will have to pay Love $91.5 million over the next three years, and any interested team will have to think hard before absorbing such a pricey contract.
Adding Love to their roster shouldn't be a problem for the Celtics. Boston has a solid crew that mostly operates around Kemba Walker. The current lineup seems to jell well with Walker, but there is one element that might need an upgrade.
Gordon Hayward has an issue with consistency, something that coach Brad Stevens could address by taking in Love. On paper and on the floor, Stevens will be getting an immediate boost in landing a player that is both consistent and knows how to win a title. His name is Love.
The Cavs superstar will also inject more fuel on the already fiery campaign that the Mavericks have been waging, led by the spectacular Luka Doncic. Love coming in could catapult Dallas to the top, favoring the team to win the 2020 Larry O'Brien, Fansided added on its report.
"Love's arrival with the Mavericks would give Doncic incredible spacing to create in the lane while also giving him more outlets to distribute to on the perimeter. This is already a deadly offensive team, but they could be downright unstoppable with Love in the fold," said the report.
Or Love could opt to join former nemesis the Golden State Warriors. The former NBA champs are plagued by a depleted lineup and will likely not make the playoffs. But the future looks bright for the Dubs when Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson are back in healthy form.
Speculations are rife the Warriors are actively recruiting Giannis Antetokounmpo as part of the team's preparation to win successive titles starting in the next season or after that. Such a goal is not impossible with Curry, Thompson, Antetokounmpo, and Draymond Green on the roster.
It might be that Love will want to be part of the planned GSW super-team, which should give him a couple more of NBA rings before retirements.
It remains a rosy prospect out there for Love but as Bleacher Report reminded, teams, trading for him must note of the possible downsides, mostly that Love was plagued by injuries and getting his services will not be cheap.
