Prince William and Kate Middleton, along with some members of the Royal Family, appeared to have put on a "united front" during the recent royal engagement inside Buckingham Palace. It was reported that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge hosted a reception for the world leaders of Africa for the UK-African Investment Summit earlier this week.
As it happened, it was the first royal engagement of the couple for the year. This comes after the "bombshell" Megxit controversy, wherein Meghan Markle and Prince Harry announced that they are now "stepping down" as senior royals.
Despite all the controversial issues about the matter, royal fans, as well as the general public, applauded and praised the Cambridge couple for keeping everything in the monarchy in its proper place. Also, publications noted how the two royals were even more celebrated by the royal followers during the event.
According to Express UK, Prince William shared a speech on the night of the reception. Although the core of his statements appeared to be a tribute to the African population, he was also reported to pay a "tribute" to his wife, Kate Middleton, in the middle of his speech.
As stated, the Duke of Cambridge recalled his proposal to his then-girlfriend and how he chose Kenya to be his ideal place for the plan. He shared that the African continent holds a "very special place" in his heart. Aside from the moment when Prince Charles brought him and Prince Harry in the continent shortly after Princess Diana died, the place became very close to him since he saw Africa as the best place to "propose to Catherine."
There is no more other "fitting place" than Kenya to get down on one knee, he added. Prince William and Kate Middleton got engaged then and officially tied the knot in 2011.
The future King proposed to the future Queen Consort with the late Princess Diana's famous engagement ring. It was previously shared that Prince Harry was the one who primarily owned the ring after the Princess of Wales' accident.
But, when Prince William revealed to him that he would be proposing to Kate Middleton, the Duke of Sussex gave him a ring, which also became a significant moment between the Cambridge couple. Based on claims, the ring signified the late Princess's presence in the most important day of the couple's lives - their wedding.
While the popular engagement ring was previously slammed and deemed "common" by the general public when Prince Charles proposed to Princess Diana, the ring is now worth much more than what it used to be. Today, the Duchess of Cambridge has always been seen to wear the iconic sapphire engagement ring, along with her wedding ring.
