Prince Charles, recently, attended an event in Israel, which marked the 75 years since the liberation of the Nazi death camp at Auschwitz. Around 40 world leaders attended the occasion, and one of them was U.S. Vice President Mike Pence.
The future king of the United Kingdom and the other Commonwealth realms went to the world leaders to shook their hands one by one. Eagle-eyed fans then noticed that Prince Charles appeared to have snubbed Mike Pence and his wife Karen.
While the Prince of Wales shook the hands of the world leaders beside Mike and Karen Pence, he clearly skipped the couple and proceeded to greet Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. What made things even more awkward is that the U.S. Vice President looked like he was expecting a handshake and just tapped Prince Charles’ elbow instead after he was "snubbed." Not surprisingly, royal fans took to social media to share their thoughts about the whole scenario. “I’m sure Prince Charles just snubbed Mike Pence,” one wrote. “I assume this was purely unintentional. Still kinda funny on an 'international diplomatic incident' level,” another one noted.
Some netizens, who are obviously not fans of Mike Pence, even praised Prince Charles for allegedly snubbing the US Vice President. “Is this real? I LOVE Prince Charles!” one commented. “That is how the whole world feels! Kudos to Prince Charles,” another one wrote. “This could not be unintentional, not once in a million years!” one fan pointed out.
However, ITV News Royal Editor Chris Ship debunked the “snub” speculations by saying that Prince Charles and Mike Pence have spoken “before and after the event.” He then tweeted that, “Also, if you listen carefully, @Mike_Pence says ‘again’ to Prince Charles as they pass…,” which seemingly proved that they have already spoken before the video was taken.
Chris Ship added that royal sources confirmed that Prince Charles and Mike Pence did have a conversation. “Prince Charles' office confirms that the pair has a ‘warm and friendly’ discussion just before this was filmed - which might explain that this wasn't a ‘snub’ of the US Vice President @Mike_Pence,” he wrote in another tweet.
Meanwhile, Prince Charles gave an emotional speech at the Holocaust Forum. He also talked about his grandmother, who helped save a Jewish family by hiding them.
