Chinese smartphones like Oppo, Vivo, Xiaomi, and Realme earlier collaborated to develop their own version of AirDrop that allows users to share files to devices using Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. Based on its previous releases, Samsung usually introduces new software alongside its flagship smartphone release, and it seems that the Seoul-based company has something again this year. Samsung Quick Share might unveil in the Unpacked event on Feb. 11, according to a new report.

The Samsung Quick Share is the South Korean company's version of Apple AirDrop. It is a local file sharing service available for Samsung Galaxy smartphones and tablets. Apple AirDrop has proven to be a very useful feature for both iOS and macOS devices.

It enables fast and easy file sharing using a Wi-Fi connection between devices. Google was earlier rumored to launch its own version called Nearby Sharing. However, it appears that Samsung is going to introduce Quick Share first.

The latest information about Samsung Quick Share comes from Max Weinbach of XDA Developers who found evidence of Samsung Quick Share feature. According to Weinbach, the new feature might arrive on the Samsung Galaxy S20 series. Interestingly, he was able to run the feature on his Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus and Note 10 but failed to transfer files.

Just like AirDrop, the feature comes with a panel in the Settings where it shows devices nearby. But, it only shows Samsung nearby devices. Samsung Quick Share functions are similar to other local sharing services. If a supported device is within proximity, it will show up as available and would allow users to send and receive files, photos, and many more.

The Samsung Quick Share comes with a built-in feature that would only allow a request from Samsung Social users in the user's contact list. It is called the Contacts Only, along with another option called Everyone, which allows any nearby device to share and receive files. Interestingly, users can temporarily upload files on the Samsung Cloud from their devices to stream them on smart TVs.

Users can send up to 1GB file at a time with a maximum of 2GB per day for Smart Things devices. Samsung might reveal more details about the upcoming Quick Share feature at the Unpacked event next month. The South Korean tech and electronics giant is anticipated to launch the Samsung Galaxy S20 smartphone series at the said event.

Earlier leaks revealed that one of the models under the S20 series called Galaxy S20 Ultra would feature 100X digital zoom. The variant will pack impressive camera configuration and might retail at a starting price of $1,500.
