It is no surprise that Queen Elizabeth II remains to be the most popular member of the royal family. However, when you asked the Millennials, they chose Prince Harry as the most famous of them all. A new poll revealed that the younger generation more favored the Duke of Sussex compared to Her Majesty herself and other senior royals.
The YouGov poll questioned 6,000 participants between January 2019 and January 2020 to see who among the member of the royal family was the most popular. Although it revealed that the monarch was the most famous among the majority of people who were born between 1946 and 1981, the younger generation born between 1982 and 1999 chose Prince Harry as the most famed one, while Prince William came second.
According to Express, 66 percent of the members of the Generation Y, or commonly known as the Millennials, voted Prince Harry as the most famous among the royal family, followed by Prince William with 63 percent and Queen Elizabeth with 62 percent. Kate Middleton came fourth, followed by Meghan Markle and Prince Philip.
Anyhow, Queen Elizabeth got the best score in the overall of the poll with 73 percent vote as the most famous. The survey's participants described her as "admirable, hard-working, respected, dignified, and dedicated."
Meanwhile, it is no surprise that the younger generations chose Prince Harry as the most popular member of the royal family. In fact, his and her wife's, Meghan Markle, decision to step back from their royal duties revealed a "generational divide over attitudes to the monarchy," Daily Mail Online reported.
Another survey made earlier this month unveiled that the majority of the millennials backed the Sussexes' abdication. The older generation, or post-war baby boomers, on the other hand, disapproved of their decision to leave the monarchy.
About 48 percent of the people aged between 56 and 74 were against Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's choice to live in Canada, while 37 percent approved. Hence, almost two-thirds of the younger age group showed their support to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
The same generational divide was seen when the partakers were asked if Meghan Markle and Prince Harry should have consulted Queen Elizabeth first before they announced their decision on social media. Eighty-nine percent of baby boomers believed they should have told Her Royal Highness about it, while only nine percent of millennials said they shouldn't have.
Anyhow, when the participants were asked which royal couple was the best role models, many still favored Prince William and Kate Middleton over Prince Harry and Meghan Markle with 64 and 15 percent vote, respectively. Hence, only four percent of the totality of voters favored the Sussexes over the Cambridges.
