Outlander season 5 premieres on Starz this coming February. The series brings more stories of the Frasers, particularly with Jamie and Claire. Prior to the release of the fifth installment, the show has been teasing fans on what to expect. Just recently, a clip was released featuring Jamie's voice and how one should be willing making oaths.
Sam Heughan shared a new clip from Outlander season 5, highlighting his character's oaths. Jamie's voice can be heard in the video about oaths to your wife and loved ones; to care and protect them. He also mentioned an oath you make to your brothers-in-arms; those who are there for you during wars and battles. This would likely be the central struggle for Jamie in the upcoming installment.
The question here is: where will his loyalties lie in Outlander season 5? It seems like his answer here is with the Regulators, his fellow Scotsmen, as well as those fight for freedom. Murtagh is a family and knows him most of his life. Although Murtagh was still alive, Jamie could lose him all over again. If he helps him, then he's risking losing himself and violating his oaths to Claire and others.
Jamie should find another way to keep everyone he loves safe. Right now, he has the advantage of knowing history -- thanks to his wife. However, Jamie and Claire were only two people, so they need to calculate their moves. Jamie will be put in a difficult situation in Outlander season 5 and choosing the right choice to avoid conflicts really matters.
Jamie wants to do everything he can to support the one he loves, but his connection to Murtagh is apparent. So, in order to protect his family and Fraser's Ridge, he needs to betray him. The latest season would be a heartbreaking setup for Jamie and will force him to navigate some difficult situations. In the end, viewers know that Jamie will still choose the right choice.
Furthermore, Heughan posted a photo of his character on his Instagram and the image was accompanied by a "Stand for Honor" message. That means no matter difficult it would be for him, Jamie will still stand for honor. And while the series would probably bring unexpected twists and turns, it will eventually bring a story of love and family in the end.
Outlander season 5 premieres on Sunday, Feb. 16, on Starz. The series will then be available on Amazon Prime the next day, Monday, Feb. 17.
