The Apple Watch plays a crucial role in the surge of the Cupertino tech giant's wearables segment in 2019. The company's smartwatch holds the largest share in the third quarter of last year, with 47.9 percent. It is not surprising why other tech companies like OPPO would follow suit.
Oppo Smartwatch
The latest image of the upcoming Oppo Smartwatch has a striking similarity to the Apple Watch. But, it also shows distinct features, particularly in the kind of navigational buttons. The Apple Watch sports a button and a crown while Oppo's upcoming wearable has a couple of buttons located on the side of the watch.
In terms of display, the Oppo Smartwatch features curved sides similar to that on smartphones. It is due to the flexible screen that's malleable enough to allow it to curve. The curved sides of the Oppo Smartwatch is a design component missing on the Watch Series of the Cupertino tech giant.
Features
The watch seems to sport a metal body with straps that flawlessly supports its body. Earlier reports claimed that the Oppo Smartwatch would be equipped with an ECG reader. So far, the ECG functionality of wearables, particularly of that of the Apple Watch Series, has been very helpful in detecting abnormal heart rates.
Several incidents were reported last year, and earlier this year, about the time the Apple wearable saved a person's life. Some cases are not that serious, but most of them ended up rushing to the ER to have themselves checked because of the irregular or abnormal reading of the Watch Series. Oppo does not say if the upcoming smartwatch would feature a sim slot or would use Bluetooth to offer the product at a much lower price.
The ElectroCardioGram (ECG) sensor collects and interprets electric signals coming from the user's heart. Through this, it gives the user the heart rate reading and the rhythm. The ECG app is also helpful in spotting possible arterial defibrillation.
Release Details
The latest image was teased online by Oppo VP Brian Shen. So far, we have no information about the price of the upcoming smartphone. As for its launch date, it is anticipated to launch in the first quarter of this year. It could happen at the forthcoming Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.
Oppo Smartwatch is not the first wearable to sport a striking resemblance with the Apple Watch Series. Other brands like Amazfit GTS and Mi Watch also feature almost the same design as that of Apple wearable.
