BTS’ dropped RM’s MAP OF THE SOUL : PERSONA “Persona” Comeback Trailer in March 2019. The Big Hit Entertainment boy group then released Suga’s MAP OF THE SOUL : 7 “Interlude : Shadow” Comeback Trailer last month. And recently, BTS Rap Line was completed with J-Hope’s MAP OF THE SOUL : 7 “Outro : Ego” Comeback Trailer.

“Persona,” “Shadow,” and “Ego” perfectly described RM, Suga, and J-Hope’s different outlook on life. The three trailers highly differ in terms of melody and overall feeling.

RM’s lyrics from “Persona” read: “Dear myself, don’t you dare lose your own temperature. You don’t need to be warm, you don’t need to be cold. Sometimes I act nice, sometimes I act evil. Doesn’t matter because this is the direction I want to take with my life.”

The BTS leader has been constantly preaching their fans and anyone who would listen to love themselves — flaws and all. “Persona” is about finding your fate and yourself.

Suga’s lyrics from “Shadow” read: “I’ve been excited about how far I could go. I ran without stopping and look how far I’ve come. The shadow underneath my feet. Looking down only makes it grow bigger. And even if I run, my shadow follows — growing in proportion with the brightness. I’m scared. I fear flying so high. No one told me how lonely it would be up here. Now I know, the higher I fly, the more I risk falling. Now I know, sometimes running away is the next best thing to do.”

The BTS main rapper talks about achieving goals and facing the consequences. He discovered that success comes with a price, and he seemed to not be ready for it. However, he must learn to co-exist with fame and destruction. “Shadow” is about facing your fate and yourself.

J-Hope’s lyrics from “Ego” read: “Okay, I don’t care. Every decision I made had been fate. So we’re here. Look at my future, the way it’s shining. Keep going now, ready, set, and begin. That way, that way, that way, Wherever my way. It’s my ego, ego, ego. Just trust myself.”

The BTS dance leader takes everyone down memory lane, recreating his adorable childhood photos that prompted ARMYs to start the #EgoChallenge. In the upbeat song, he describes how he learned to be both J-Hope of BTS and Jung Hoseok. J-Hope also reflects on his seven-year journey with the group. “Ego” is about accepting your fate and yourself.
